Magpie vs Firecrawl · Checked 17 Sep 2026

Firecrawl or Magpie for your AI agent's ecommerce data?

Firecrawl is a general tool for turning web pages into clean text and JSON for AI. Magpie is a specialist API for marketplace data, with typed fields and monthly sales history.

Two different tools, in two paragraphs.

Magpie

A data API for ecommerce marketplaces. The Data API serves monthly GMV, units sold, prices and market share across Shopee, Tokopedia, TikTok Shop, Lazada and Blibli. The Scraping API returns live product pages, listings and search results as typed JSON, and an MCP connector gives agents both.

Firecrawl

A web data API for AI applications. It searches, scrapes, maps and crawls websites and returns clean markdown or JSON, and it is open source. It is set up for AI agents, with skills and tooling for coding assistants.

Which one fits your work.

Choose Magpie if

  • Your agent needs marketplace prices, stock, sales and market share as numbers, not page text.
  • You need monthly history for Southeast Asian marketplaces.
  • You want the same fields for every marketplace without prompting an extractor.
  • You want to cover Shopee, Tokopedia, TikTok Shop, Lazada, Blibli and Amazon with one key.

Choose Firecrawl if

  • You feed AI models with content from many different websites.
  • You need to crawl whole sites, such as documentation or blogs.
  • You want to self-host an open-source scraper.
  • You need web search results as part of the same tool.

Using both

Agents often use both: Firecrawl to read general web pages, and Magpie's MCP connector when the question needs marketplace numbers.

Questions people ask.

Can Firecrawl scrape Shopee or Tokopedia?

Firecrawl works on URLs you give it. When we checked on 17 Sep 2026, it did not list marketplace-specific endpoints. Magpie has maintained endpoints for Shopee, Tokopedia, Lazada, Blibli, TikTok Shop and Amazon.

Why use structured fields instead of markdown?

Marketplace work usually needs numbers you can compare: price, discount, stock, ratings and review counts. Typed fields arrive ready to store and chart, with no extraction step.

Can an AI agent use Magpie?

Yes. Magpie has an MCP connector that works with the same API key as the REST APIs, and an agent skill file that describes both APIs.

Does Magpie crawl whole websites?

No. Magpie fetches marketplace product pages, listings and search results, and serves a monthly dataset. For crawling general websites, use a crawler like Firecrawl.
